OUR SERVICES
This program provides monetary help to neighbors struggling to pay rent, utilities, or health bills. Requests for assistance come from Fairfax County Social Services and payments are sent to landlords, ultility companies or medical providers. This programs relies on the generosity of our donors.
The technology program solicits computer donations from the community, refurbishes them, and distributes them to families who would otherwise be unable to afford them. These volunteers also work to keep Share's internet, databases, and webpages running smoothly.
The Back-to-School Program provides necessary school supplies or gifts cards appropriate for various student levels. Donations from individuals, faith communities, and institutions help fund the School Supply Program.
The pantry is our most visible program. Each neighbor may visit the pantry twice a month and choose the food and clothing they need. Some items in high demand have limits to ensure everyone gets at least one a month. This service relies on community members' food drives and independent donations as the pantry goes through over 900 bags of groceries a month!
The Share Clothing and Linen Room is co-located with the Share food pantry in the McLean Baptist Church. Share accepts donations of seasonal clothing, shoes and household linens and provides them free of charge to Share neighbors.
The furniture program offers pickups and drop-offs of furniture in good condition. This program provides essential furniture to neighbors who have lost their belongings after being homeless or victims of domestic abuse. The program also assists the disabled, the elderly and others who cannot afford new furniture.
COMMUNITY GARDENING
All community members are invited to bring donations of fresh fruits and vegetables from their own gardens to be distributed to our pantry shoppers each week.
During the Holiday season, Share provides our registered neighbors gift cards to help them celebrate the holidays with their families.
