Emergency Financial Assistance

overdue bills.jpg

Share’s Financial Assistance Program provides emergency financial assistance to neighbors facing urgent needs, including help with rent, utilities, medical services, prescriptions, and other essential expenses. Even in a prosperous community, many individuals and families live paycheck to paycheck, or may experience job loss or an unexpected family crisis and need a temporary hand up.  In addition, local school counselors may request assistance on behalf of students who are unable to afford participation in extracurricular activities or other school-based programs.

Payment is made to the vendor and never directly to the client.

Do You Need Help?

Neighbors residing in the Share service areas of McLean, Great Falls, and Pimmit Hills, (zip codes, 22101, 22102, 22066 and parts of 22043) may call the Share answering service directly at (703) 229-1414.  A Share Financial Assistance Coordinator will call back to determine the need and qualifications for assistance.

Neighbors in other service areas are referred to Share by the Fairfax County Coordinated Planning Services at (703) 222-0880.

Volunteer

Financial Assistance Coordinators receive referrals from social workers and arrange for the payment of rent, utilities, and other needs in accordance with Share guidelines.  Coordinators take calls for one week on average every two months and can work from home.  Please contact info@shareofmclean.org if you would like more information on how to volunteer.  â€‹
