Share's Holiday Celebration is our biggest event of the year.  It begins in October when we start registering each neighbor in need by checking their eligibility and collecting information on their holiday wishes.  We also collect some basic information on their children to help donors pick out toys for them.

Several volunteers are needed each week to help our neighbors through the registration process.   Spanish-speaking volunteers are in particularly high demand. We provide training for all new volunteers before each registration session. Sign up to volunteer through our volunteer application and indicate your interest in "holiday registration."

Share "Wishes"

Each family or individual who registers in time gets paired up with a donor who shops for them using the information we collected. Some people request a physical item such as a coat or a small kitchen appliance, while many others request gift cards. Gift cards enable our neighbors to choose what is most needed by the family.  Many parents use the gift cards to buy their children gifts from "Santa."  Children at Share receive a lesser gift card amount, but also receive donated new toys from toy drives in the area. Parents with babies are given a bag containing age-appropriate toys, pajamas, diapers, and similar items.  The gift value distributed to each neighbor is highly dependent on the donations we receive, but generally speaking, each "Wish" is equivalent to a $25 donation, and baby bags are about $50.

  • Each November, our neighbors who have registered for the holiday program receive a reusable bag filled with pantry staples and holiday favorites.

  • Because our neighbors come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, or may have dietary restrictions, Share also distributes a grocery gift card to each family which allows them to shop for their own celebratory foods.

  • The food and grocery cards for this event come from food drives throughout the community and from private donors.

  • If you are interested in volunteering to fill boxes, register neighbors, or host a food drive, please see the Get Involved page for more information.

Happy Thanksgiving
