Share, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation providing emergency assistance since 1969 to the less fortunate in McLean and Pimmit Hills, and nearby areas of Northern Virginia.  Our programs include family emergency financial assistance; distribution of food, used clothing; recycled furniture; and transportation services for seniors.  We also provide clients with grocery gift cards and gifts during the holidays, refurbished computers, and school supplies.  Virtually 100% of donations go to the direct benefit of our clients because we are an all-volunteer organization.Food Pantry and Clothing Rooms are open every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30am-12:00 noon (except Saturdays before federal holidays) in donated space at the McLean Baptist Church, 1367 Chain Bridge Rd., McLean, VA 22101.  Please help us by organizing a Food Drive.  Click here to learn what items we need or how to hold a food or clothing and linen drive.  Last year Share programs provided over 900 bags of groceries and 280 bags of used clothing and linens per month.

The Gardener’s Share – Six local faith communities, as well as scout troops and gardeners at the Lewinsville Park, are growing produce for our food program.  In FY 2014 these efforts produced more than 1,000 pounds of vegetables, fruits and herbs, which were made available to clients visiting our food room.  We also procured fresh produce and frozen meat from the Capital Area Food Bank to supplement supplies for our food room.

Furniture Program– Share provides furniture free of charge to individuals and families struggling to furnish their homes as a result of poverty or significant life challenges.  Last year Share delivered used furniture (gently-used beds, couches, chairs and tables) to over 270 families comprised of over 700 household members.  Please donate your used furniture in good condition.

Family Assistance Program– Trained volunteers work with Fairfax County social workers to provide emergency financial aid to clients to avoid eviction, utility shutoff and to pay medical bills.  During FY2014 Share responded to 1,200 calls to provide assistance to 815 families with 2,320 household members.  Volunteer to work as a family assistance coordinator or donate funds.

Transportation Program – In January 2014, Share joined with the Shepherd’s Center of McLean, Arlington, and Falls Church (SCMAFC) to continue providing transportation for medical appointments and certain other purposes.  Anyone living in the three communities served by SCMAFC is eligible for transportation assistance. To request a ride for a medical appointment, call 703-506-2199.  If you are a new client, an SCMAFC volunteer will arrange to visit you to obtain additional information and explain the procedures.
