FOOD PANTRY

The Food Pantry is our most visible program.  All food and clothing we distribute to our neighbors in need comes from donations by individuals, community food drives, and local businesses.  The pantry supplies over 900 bags of groceries a month!

Each neighbor may visit the pantry twice a month and choose the food and clothing they need.  Some items in high demand have limits to ensure everyone gets at least one a month.

ATTENTION SENIORS:  Share is now open the first and third Thursday of every month for senior clients (55 years of age and older), 9:00-11:00 am.  Transportation is provided for Lewinsville and Fallstead retirement residence clients.

DONATE FOOD

  • Donations can be brought directly to Share at the McLean Baptist Church on Wednesday and Saturdays from 9:30 AM - 12 noon.   Donations can be placed in the storage bins on the left side of the Church at any time.  Our volunteers empty the sheds daily.

  • Donations can also be brought to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1545 Chain Bridge Dr, McLean, Va., Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Please go to the office and ring the doorbell (Westmoreland side only, not the front door or the playground side). Only non-perishable food and personal hygiene items are accepted here. They cannot accept clothing, toys, or household items.

MORE WAYS TO HELP

  • Gift cards are used to supplement food items for our clients. Gift cards for Giant and Target can be purchased at the McLean Giant front desk. Walmart, Lidl, and Safeway cards can be bought at their respective locations.

  • Donate money online by credit card, PayPal or by mailing a check.  Share volunteers will purchase what is most needed and available.

  • Want to shop for Share, but don’t have time to drop off items? Purchase Share’s most needed items through My Registry and leave the delivery to us!   Deliveries are sent directly to a safe location where they are loaded into a Share food truck.

  • Come join our friendly team as a Volunteer at the Food Pantry.

HOST A FOOD DRIVE

Food drives are held throughout our community in schools, offices, clubs, and stores. Some offer an incentive for donating such as tickets to an event or points towards a competition, while others simply place a box out for members to leave food in. Whether big or small, complex or simple, food drives are a great way to make a big impact at our pantry!

HOW TO HOLD YOUR OWN FOOD DRIVE (PDF)

Did you know?  During the summer months, food supply is particularly low due to fewer food drives being held by volunteers. Also our families need more food in the summer as their kids are not receiving free breakfasts and lunches as they do while at school.
