Food Pantry

The food pantry provides supplemental groceries to clients who live in Share’s service area zip codes (22101, 22102, 22066, 22043). Clients can visit the food pantry twice per month.  The Food Pantry is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:30 to noon.  In FY2014, the Food Pantry provided more than 900 bags of groceries on average per month to 337 families with 1,000 household members.  Share’s distribution has more than doubled since the start of the recession in 2008. Food Drives – The majority of food that Share distributes is donated by the local community.  Share depends on Food Drives to stock our food pantry.  Organizing a Food Drive is a great way to earn high school community service credit or to involve your business, community or religious organization in helping feed our neighbors.  Please see our ‘Hold a Drive‘ page for simple instructions.  The Food Pantry itself can accommodate 6 volunteers at a time.  Please review the volunteer job descriptions if you are interested.
